A Childhood Classics Nisbet Nutmeg Teddy Bear - he is a rare bear!
This is a great 1983 vintage House of Nisbet Nutmeg Bear (Model 5001) that came from our Moms collection. He stands 11 inches tall with jointed arms, legs, and head. His nutmeg colored mohair is in great condition. The orange eyes, black stitched nose, hand pads and foot pads are all in excellent shape. He is a five jointed bear and all of his joints are tight. He has a red bowtie around his neck.
The brown cloth tag sewn to his foot says "NISBET CHILDHOOD CLASSICS LTD. Telford, Shropshire, England".
The House of Nisbet started as a doll-making venture in the early 1950s. In the late 1970s, Nisbet added collectible teddy bears to its line. Nisbet dolls and bears are known for their authenticity and exacting of British workmanship. A team of dedicated and highly skilled needle-women in West Country of England create the company's products. Much of the work is done by hand, meaning no two bears are exactly alike. The House of Nisbet was one of the finest British Teddy Bear Manufacturers.
You do not see many of these for sale - just try a web or an EBay search! These are some of the finest House of Nisbet teddy bears. What a wonderful collectible British Bear!!! For an avid teddy bear collector this 1983 vintage handmade bear would be quite a stunning addition to their collection.
