    Description

ANTIQUE NEWCOMB COLLEGE JOSEPH MEYER-ALMA MASON MATTE CLAY FLORAL VASE c1913
Condition is pre-owned! This piece dates to c1913 and for 108 years old, it’s in excellent condition! It has some natural crazing due to age visible on the buff clay on the inside at the top opening, which is shown circled in a photo. It also has a discoloration that is shown circled in a photo. I only wiped the piece with a damp cloth, I did not wash with soap and water. The buyer can do that.
I inspected closely for chips, cracks and repairs and I do not see any! Please use photos as part of the description.
It measures approximately 5 1/2” inches tall and approximately 6” wide/diameter. The opening measures approximately 2 2/1” inches in diameter.
This beautiful piece of Newcomb College Pottery is clearly marked/signed. It is a beautiful floral vase with a blue green matte finish/glaze.
It has the “N” in the “C” logo.
The potter who threw the clay is JM for Joseph Meyer.
The artist that decorated the piece is A.M. for Alma Mason! In my research, I did not find many pieces by her!
The “B” in the circle depicts Buff Clay was used.
The 205 stamp depicts the shape of piece.
And the “GF 106” depicts the numbering system that puts this piece at age of made at c1913!
The whole story of Newcomb College Pottery is very interesting part of Southern History!
Please ask any questions prior to purchasing!
I typically do not offer free shipping, but on this piece I will be willing to, as it will be shipped out with USPS Priority and it will be insured for the final selling price since it is a rare piece! And, it will be bubble wrapped to death as well!!
